The new 4k BD format features a resolution of 3840 x 2160, and it supports high dynamic range (HDR), higher frame rates (up to 60 frames per second), as well as object-based immersive sound, such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. As to the encoding, the video will be encoded under the High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard, aka H.265, and use 10-bit color depth and the Rec. 2020 color space. According to the authority, the Ultra Blu-ray Disc will also support the optional digital bridge feature, which means, users are allowed to copy the Ultra HD Blu-ray content to an authorized external hard disk drive or portable devices, including smart phones and tablets.
About the Availability of the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc
When the common folks are expected to see the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc hit the street? Don’t worry, here comes the good news-Fox Home Entertainment has already got them in the works, and they will be available to general consumers in the early 2016, probably the same time when Samsung’s Ultra HD Blu-ray 4K Player goes on sale. And the first 7 chosen titles on the release schedule are Exodus: Gods and Kings, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Fantastic Four, X-Men: Days Of Future Past, Life Of Pi, Wild and The Maze Runner. Furthermore, it’ll make all of its upcoming new releases available on Ultra HD.
How to Safeguard Such Expensive Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc?
Both the Ultra HD Blu-ray Player and Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc are destined to be pricey at the nascent stages, so you do not want them to be damaged or scratched, even accidentally, do you? What measurements can you take to make sure they are well protected against these potential dangers? The answer is easy. Make backups! To always support and keep updated to the latest technology has been a long practice with DVDFab family. DVDFab will, as soon as possible, add the support to make backups of the 4k BD discs, probably in Blu-ray copy software and Blu-ray ripper software. From the technological level, this should not be difficult to achieve, because several of its copy and video converter tools have already been able to handle 4K UHD videos and HEVC (H.265) videos since last year. Furthermore, its media player software also support to play back 4K UHD, and HEVC (H.265) videos.
The only question now left is when. Although it is still hard to figure out an exact timetable, it is guaranteed that it won’t be long after the 4k BD Player from Samsung and those first batches of Ultra HD Blu-ray Titles from Fox Studio are ready for consumers.
